Lydia Deetz is a young artistic, creative and quite eccentric young girl who is always
positive, poliet and friendly. She is a photographer, an artist a seamstress and has a
distinct love for everything dark, twisted and gross! Lydia is best friends with
Beetlejuice as and is quite close with two rather odd misfits from school and several
odd monsters from the Neitherworld. Her parents are quite eccentric as well, though
neither carries the same love of the macabre that Lydia does. Cartoon Lydia is quite
different from movie Lydia (as I'm sure anyone who  knows the movie can tell from
that little bio ^^)

I had a lot of fun with this costume! It's my own adaptation of the costume. I figured it
would look absurd for a woman my height to wear a full length cape/pancho like she
does. I consider it somewhat of an adult version Lydia XD The cape is made of Satin
and I did the spider webs by making lines of really tight zigzag stitching and the under
dress is just a lightweight stretch knit. I have to say, I love love love love love my wig!
I had so much fun styling it! It started life as just a straight Cleo wig (and actually it's
such a nice quality wig that it can very easily be put back as a straight wig) Also I had a
lot of fun with the makeup! I've never done a costume that required that much makeup
without actually being body paint! Though one thing I will say about the makeup is it
really sucks trying to keep red lipstick on your bottom lip and black on your top..
throughout the day they just become dark red :( One last thing is the jewelry was
made by me! The "chains" are just clear seed glass beads, I figured they may look like
spider webs, and the spiders themselves are origami I folded! I love how they turned
out! The big spider was my first attempt and from there I went straight into the little
ones for the earrings! I lacquered the paper afterwards to give them a little more
stability and a bit of a shine and then popped little holes in them and stuck them on rings so I could use them as
beads!

Debut: 2009 Hallowe'en
Worn at: 2010 March Toronto Anime Convention (MTAC)

On Halloween very very few people knew who I was in this, so when I wore it to the convention I was fully
expecting to find the same thing, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out tons of people knew who I was!
Apparently I'm not the only one who has fond memories of this show from my childhood! ^^
