The Paper Bag Princess

The Paper Bag Princess is a character from a wonderful Robert Munsch book. Elizabeth is a
young princess who is set to marry a prince named Ronald. Unfortunately a dragon comes
and burns away all of the young princesses clothes and kidnaps the prince. The only thing
she can find after the Dragon attacks all she can find that’s not burnt is a paper bag. So she
puts on the paper bag and then heads off to get her future hubby back from the dragon.
This costume was made just because Loduris (who is in the costume) made a comment along
the lines of "If I'm a princess why don't you get me a dress and a crown?" So I did! It is
actual paper. I actually sewed the"Dress" together with a muslin lining so it was a little more
comfortable. And the crown is just tinfoil moulded into a crown and the spray painted gold. As
for the wig I did so much to mess up the wig, but it kept going back to a normal-ish style.

This costume, being made out of paper, was not made to last more than one convention.
I'm glad it turned out well and it got a fairly good reaction from a lot of people at the
convention. I'm very glad Loduris enjoyed it.
